The AS-C (Assistant at Surgery - Certified) program is for surgical first assistants who are interested in improving and validating their knowledge and skills and providing the highest quality care to patients. NASC does not currently administer the AS-C exam to new applicants. Current AS-C holders may still recertify via a point system or by exam.
Candidates use the AS-C credential to gain credibility and recognition from colleagues and patients, achieve their personal and professional goals, and enhance their career development. AS-C certification provides evidence to employers that the certified individual has met academic and national standards for the knowledge required of first assistants at surgery.
