Wolverine Power Cooperative is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Training & Development Specialist.

Wolverine is a wholesale, member-owned generation and transmission electric cooperative headquartered in beautiful Cadillac, Michigan. Wolverine generates and transmits electricity to its seven member-owners to provide electric power to their 268,000 member consumers located throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula.

As Wolverine's Training & Development Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with HR, safety, department leaders, and employees to determine training needs, skill gaps, and required courses for utility industry employees.

  • Creating and delivering continuing education and specialized training for a variety of roles including but not limited to journeyman line worker, fiber installer, staking engineers, vegetation, and forestry professionals, substation and I&C technicians, mechanics, power plant operators, individual contributors, and supervisory staff.

  • Establishing, overseeing, and maintaining a training and certification recordkeeping system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in organizational training/development, education, industrial safety, environmental health and safety, or similar industry/technical related field preferred. Equivalent on-the-job training, or utility management experience may be substituted for some formal education.

  • Three or more years' experience creating and delivering impactful utility specific curriculum to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to hold audience attention through engaging and informational presentations.

  • Polished, poised, and industry proficient public speaking and writing skills are required.

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships and engaging with adult learners.

  • A valid Michigan driver's license is required.

  • A strong aptitude for developing new skills and researching information to expand knowledge.
