Reference #: 4544189 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a skilled individual to join their team as a Highway Drafter. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting senior staff members in drafting and creating components for projects of varying complexity levels. Your main tasks will involve utilizing Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software to complete highway-related work and operating all necessary equipment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The role involves conducting technical tasks related to creating a diverse range of highway plans, bridge plans, right-of-way plot plans, and other additional drawings. Utilizing Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) workstations, as well as traditional drafting methods (such as inking details on plans), is essential for developing and producing highway or bridge plans in accordance with Design Manual - Part 3, Pub. 408, Items Catalog, and CADD Standards.

The responsibilities include progressing from initial sketches to comprehensive working plans, encompassing aspects like layouts and materials. The individual in this position must ensure that the plans are accurate, detailed, and align with the specified standards and guidelines. This role demands a meticulous approach to drafting and design, with a focus on precision and adherence to established protocols.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Schedules vary due to weather conditions and field conditions, and requires working in inclement conditions. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as an Engineering Technician; or Two years of experience in a variety of drafting assignments, one of which shall have been in highway drafting, including six months CADD experience or training, and graduation from high school; or One year of experience in highway drafting and detailing assignments including six months of CADD experience or training and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology; or Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training Other Requirements: This particular position requires a valid Class C Driver's License.
