Our client, a leading player in the automotive industry, is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join their dynamic team. As a Mechanical Designer , you'll be an integral part of the Body in White (BIW) department, supporting critical projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Location: Southfiled, MI
Pay Range: $ 27-32/hr
What’s the Job?
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, fixtures, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
Modify existing 3D and 2D models and create new designs for various systems, ensuring quality and functionality.
Coordinate and review designs with technical leaders, project engineers, and colleagues to maintain consistency and resolve design issues.
Drive and understand customer specifications and apply company standards in all aspects of mechanical designs.
What’s Needed?
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Approximately 10 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically in Body in White (BIW) tooling fixtures.
Proficiency in CAD platforms, particularly Siemens NX, and a strong understanding of North American Auto Manufacturer standards and specifications.
In-depth knowledge of auto assembly strategies and body shop tooling fixtures, including geometry setting and fixture tools for framing lines and sub-assembly.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical design issues effectively.
