Our client, a leading player in the automotive industry, is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join their dynamic team. As a Mechanical Designer , you'll be an integral part of the Body in White (BIW) department, supporting critical projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Location: Southfiled, MI

Pay Range: $ 27-32/hr

What’s the Job?

  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, fixtures, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.

  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.

  • Modify existing 3D and 2D models and create new designs for various systems, ensuring quality and functionality.

  • Coordinate and review designs with technical leaders, project engineers, and colleagues to maintain consistency and resolve design issues.

  • Drive and understand customer specifications and apply company standards in all aspects of mechanical designs.

What’s Needed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Approximately 10 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically in Body in White (BIW) tooling fixtures.

  • Proficiency in CAD platforms, particularly Siemens NX, and a strong understanding of North American Auto Manufacturer standards and specifications.

  • In-depth knowledge of auto assembly strategies and body shop tooling fixtures, including geometry setting and fixture tools for framing lines and sub-assembly.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical design issues effectively.
