Position Specific Description

This position will support generation and load business managers in hedging electric price congestion exposure primarily via FTR auctions in various markets including ERCOT, PJM, SPP, MISO, NYISO and CAISO. This position will also support auction revenue rights (ARR) value maximization analysis and strategies. This role involves identifying fundamental drivers of grid congestion, such as outages and system topography changes, and applying that knowledge to predict impacts on future congestion pricing. Responsibilities include developing quantitative tools to inform FTR auction bidding strategies and coordinating with business management, forward traders, accounting and operations team to execute those strategies.

Employees in this role align the energy portfolio with the portfolio strategy. Individuals direct and execute energy futures, options, and swaps and use options, forwards, and outright positions to optimize profitability and limit risk.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identifies and analyzes price and non-price risk exposure to optimize revenues/profits and manage established risk limits

  • Develops and maintains forward pricing curves

  • Coordinates with Mid/Back office documentation requirements

  • Develops daily view of market direction, implement strategy to maximize profits

  • Develops asset by asset and regional strategies with developers, operations, traders, marketers, etc.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED

  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience

  • Experience: 1+ years

  • Bachelor’s - Business Administration
