A Drafting Technician is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Simpsonville, SC area. This job creates and revises CAD models and drawings, ensuring compliance with standards, and supports design documentation and release activities.

responsibilities:

Drafting and Design:

• Perform basic to moderately complex drafting duties under general supervision.

• Assist engineers with part, assembly, and installation engineering models and drawings.

• Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts to ensure conformance to specifications.

• Apply Company, Industry, and Contractual standards in the preparation of hardware design and documentation data.

• Develop design drawings according to engineering sketches and proposal specifications.

• Plan, layout, draw, and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings.

• Complete major layout drawings prepared by others using standard engineering drafting practices and CAD systems.

• Assist in determining and employing proper specifications for materials, finishes, processes, connectors, and other mechanical/electrical components.

• Determine drafting views, datums, dimensions, sectioning, and applicable reference lines and design details.

Checking and Quality Assurance:

• Support check activities on change definition artifacts for revisions of existing designs and documentation.

• Consistently check own work for alignment to internal and external standards.

Release Activities:

• Prepare reports on project activities.

• Complete production detail hardware drawings including records and design documentation for release into the SEPDM.

• Assist engineering in the preparation of data and documentation during the revision of released artifacts SEPDM.

Basic Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

• OR, in the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 4 years of relevant experience.

• Knowledge in Mechanical Hardware design fundamentals.

• Experience with and general understanding of design methodologies.

• Intermediate experience in SolidWorks and SEPDM.

• Ability to construct mechanical designs using CAD tools with full PMI.

• Knowledge of GD&T application principles with certification preferred.

Ideal Candidate Traits:

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and SEPDM.

• Knowledge of ASME specifications.

• Familiarity with the design of cables and harnesses including wire routing within CAD assemblies.

• Past experience working on government/military programs.

Safety Requirements:

• Fulfill all Environmental, Safety & Health (EH&S) requirements and act in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times.

• Follow all EH&S policies and procedures.

• Act on unsafe conditions and aid Leadership in achieving EH&S initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
