CAMBA’s Workforce Development and Refugee Services Programs: Since our founding CAMBA has connected over 25,000 New Yorkers to full time jobs. Our workforce development initiatives grew out of our commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive New York City. Driven by racial and economic equality, we provide opportunities for the most economically and socially vulnerable to thrive.  We work with a vast diversity of job seekers, and specialize in assisting those with special barriers to employment including refugees, political asylees, immigrant professionals, young adults, victims of human trafficking and others, from over fifty countries of origin, who are striving to connect to career paths. We take a strength based approach to career development, matching participants to specific bridge trainings which allow them to benefit from the job opportunities we develop with our employer partners. Among other areas of specialization, we have expertise in matching STEM skilled immigrant professionals to engineering sector and IT jobs locally. These award winning programs are performance-based, and success is measured by meeting engagement, employment placement, training, and retention goals.

Position: Supervisor/Career Advisor

Reports To: Program Director

Location: 955 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn NY 11226

What The Supervisor/Career Advisor Does:

  • Supervise direct reporting staff (Career Advisors), and communicate effectively with clients, team members, supervisors/managers, and funders.

  • Plan and organize program activities to maximize program contract's goals and performance targets to JTBO and CPIII programs.

  • Maintain own client caseload and prescreen clients for eligibility and schedule intake appointments.

  • One-on-One Supervision sessions per direct staff report will be conducted bi-weekly.

  • Conduct quality review of information entered data system and compare it to case file data and services delivered to ensure accurate reporting and claims validation.

  • Conduct initial intake or assessment of clients and their periodic reassessments.

  • Monitor clients' progress towards their goals weekly.

  • Motivate, coach and counsel direct reporting staff to excel.

  • Improve teamwork among direct reporting staff as well as among peers.

  • Troubleshoot client and direct reporting staff program problems, and make decisions in accordance with program policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Work with direct reporting staff to improve work performance through client feedback, training, and other appropriate mechanisms.

  • Administer constructive discipline to direct reporting staff, as needed.

  • Manage own time effectively and coordinate program activities to maximize time of direct reporting staff.

  • Review all documentation related to clients' progress for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.

  • Lead and participate in administrative and staff meetings as requested.

  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports to CAMBA management and/or to funders.

  • Review and approve direct reporting staff vacation time.

  • Review and approve direct reporting staff timesheet (if needed)

  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.

  • Prepare marketing materials for the program (if needed)

  • Reach out and market the program to the community partners in order to recruit clients.

  • Coordinate and facilitate social/peer support events, including group facilitation for clients

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) and/or equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Two years plus of relevant field experience.

  • Computer/ Data base /Data Entry knowledge

Compensation: $62,000 annually

When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
