GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:The Director provides management for early college and dual enrollment programs, to include: Early College High School partnerships and consortiums and Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Partnership programs as well as the development and innovation of new early college initiatives. The position will provide continued and expanded collaboration with the partners, external organizations and funding agencies to develop, administer and maintain existing and new programs in sustainable and effective ways. The Director will work closely with the Provost’s Office, Admissions, Deans, Academic Department Chairs, Student Success Offices, Student Affairs, and other campus constituents as well as with early college partners including school districts, the Departments of Higher Education and Elementary and Secondary Education and associated organizations. SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs with a dotted line reporting to Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversee the development, establishment and maintenance of early college programs that foster student success, collaborative partnerships and high-quality academic programs. 2. Collaborate with admissions on all early college and dual enrollment activities. 3. Work in collaboration with deans, academic department chairs and AVPAA to schedule courses for early college and dual enrollment programs and align course offerings to meet school district diploma requirements and college degree requirements. 4. Develop and implement course registration, enrollment and advising process for early college and dual enrollment partnership students in collaboration with appropriate staff and offices. 5. Serve as liaison to partner school districts and high schools on matters of dual enrollment and early college and maintain a presence at partner school districts particularly at high schools. 6. Initiates and develops grant proposal to secure funding for early college and dual enrollment programs in collaboration with the Grant Office. 7. Organize orientation activities to support student success. 8. Collaborate with appropriate staff and offices to ensure proper student support. 9. Coordinate between university and high school staff to identify professional development that is appropriate or deemed necessary. 10. Develop and maintain appropriate program materials that provide critical information on early college and dual enrollment programs (i.e. web site, promotional flyers, etc.). 11. Work collaboratively with deans, chairs and program faculty to develop strategies for retaining students and contributing to their success. 12. Work collaboratively with admissions to support the enrollment of early college and dual enrollment students in university degree programs. 13. Manage and oversee relevant budgets and grants, including annual planning, projection and tracking. 14. Write and present reports as necessary, including an annual report to the K12 partners and the Commonwealth, to include enrollment and retention numbers for early college programs. 15. Oversee management of programs' data in collaboration with Institutional Research and Planning. 16. Keep current with educational research and best practices, as well as local, state and national trends related to innovative pedagogical and advising techniques targeted to serve under-prepared, and culturally diverse youth. 17. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master’s degree, or enrollment in a Master’s degree program in counseling, public administration, or a related field preferred. 2. Candidate should possess a minimum of five to seven years or more of experience in higher education, education administration, counseling, public administration, or a related program field is also preferred. 3. Bi-lingual abilities are strongly preferred. 4. Experience with curriculum development and knowledge of K-12 and post-secondary curriculum standards. 5. Excellent communication/organizational skills, bilingual ability, program development, and strong interpersonal skills are helpful. 6. Experience working with educationally and economically disadvantaged populations. 7. Knowledge of the college admissions process; financial aid opportunities and high school graduation requirements. 8. Ability to exercise independent judgement. 9. Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and adhere to guidelines. 10. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. 11.
