Mechanical Designer/DrafterJob Description

As a Mechanical Designer/Drafter, you will be proficient in SolidWorks 2019+, and have a solid understanding of drafting standards and welding call-outs. Your responsibilities will include creating 3D/CAD assemblies, models, and drawings for parts and systems, including sheet metal formations. You will assist in solution development for product designs and contract bid content, process engineering changes, and drawing updates through the QA processes. Additionally, you will take measurements from COTS items or commodities and create engineering drawings for QA inspection, create product exploded-views or animations to support technical proposals or documents, and confer with Production to incorporate redlines through the ECN process. You will also work closely with the Design for Manufacturing Engineer to assure manufacturability and serviceability, and create, update, or maintain BOMs in the ERP system. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite is required.

Hard Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 2019+

  • Understanding of drafting standards and welding call-outs

  • Ability to create 3D/CAD assemblies, models, and drawings

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite

Soft Skills

  • Ability to confer with Production and Design for Manufacturing Engineer

  • Ability to assist in solution development for product designs and contract bid content

  • Ability to process engineering changes and drawing updates

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Santa Clarita, California.

Work Environment

You will be working Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with a little flexibility. You will be a part of a department of 10 people and you will report to the Design Manager. The role may require working in lab and production environments which necessitate the use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
