License: Professional Geologist

To be eligible for a license as a professional geologist, the applicant must: be a U.S. citizen or provide proof of lawful presence; be a college graduate with a major in geology, engineering geology, or a related geological science; must have a minimum of 30 semester hours of course work in geological science. A “certified written reference or certified transcript from the college or university must be submitted directly to the Board; have at least five (5) years full-time professional geological work experience after receipt of a bachelor’s degree; All applicants are required to pass the written Practice of Geology Examination administered by the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Geologists.
