The Commission Veterinarian is appointed by the Racing Commission and is a veterinarian licensed to practice under the laws of Arkansas and be in good standing. The Commission Veterinarian is on the grounds at pre-post weighing in time and during all racing hours. The Commission Veterinarian is prohibited, except in emergency situations, from practicing veterinary medicine on any horse owned, leased or otherwise controlled by a licensed owner or trainer at Oaklawn Park. This prohibition applies to all horses, whether they are housed on the track or elsewhere. The Commission Veterinarian obtains saliva and/or body fluids from designated race horses and does examinations and tests on the horses, when it is required by the racing officials and the Racing Commission. Must meet all requirements and be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Arkansas. No Examinations required. No fees are paid to the Racing Commission.
