Examination Requirements: six-hour National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) Principles and Practices of Surveying (PS), a four-hour California-specific examination on land surveying, and Take-Home California State Laws and Board Rules Exam. Examination Frequency: NCEES exam is given semi-annually (April and October). California State Specific exam is given annually (April). For final filing dates see our website: www.bpelsg.ca.gov. Exam Locations: Statewide at designated locations. See website www.bpelsg.ca.gov. Experience Requirement: With a Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certificate, six years of equivalent full-time experience in land surveying, including other credits, with one year each of responsible field training and responsible office training. Waiver of the Fundamentals of Surveying exam is available if applicant is a Professional Engineer in California, or has a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or is a graduate of an approved four-year land surveying curriculum and submits satisfactory evidence of 15 years or more of qualifying experience, or is a graduate of a land surveying curriculum, with a B.S. degree or equivalent, and submits satisfactory evidence of 17 years or more of qualifying experience, or holds a valid LSIT certificate from another state.
