Examination Requirement: 8-hour National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) Fundamentals of Surveying examination (FS). Certification: Land Surveyor in Training. Renewal: none Examination Frequency: Year-round examination cycle. For details: see NCEES website: www.ncees.org. Exam Locations: Statewide at designated locations. See NCEES website: www.ncees.org. Experience Requirement: Two years of postsecondary education in land surveying. OR Two years or more of work-related experience in land surveying, OR A combination of postsecondary education and experience in land surveying totaling two years. Average Time to Process Application: Up to sixty days. Comments: All applicants are required to register for the examination and pay their examination fee directly to NCEES. This process applies to ALL applicants, including those who are re-filing or re-taking an examination. tep 1: Register with NCEES during open registration period. Step 2: Pay NCEES for national exam-related expenses during registration process. Step 3: Those candidates who pass the FS examination are required to submit the certification application form and application fee to the California Board to obtain certification as an LSIT.
