DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: An Occupational Therapist plans, organizes, and participates in medically-oriented occupational programs in hospitals or similar institutions to rehabilitate patients who are physically or mentally ill. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Personal requirements: 1) Be at least 18 years old. 2) Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. Experience and Education requirements: Submit photocopy of certificate issued by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board or the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). EXAMINATIONS: National certification exam FEES: In 2023, pay $279 (application $50, license $86, compliance resolution fund $100, 1/2 renewal $43). In 2022, pay $186 (application $50, license $86, compliance resolution fund $50). OTHER: There were 473 licenses currently active as of February 24, 2022. ~ revised 09/20
