License: HVAC Apprentice

Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) workers must be licensed in the State of Idaho. There are three certificates of competency available to HVAC workers: apprentice registration, journeyman license, and contractor’s license. HVAC Apprentice applicants must: 1.) Be at least 18 years of age, or provide proof of registration with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship Training certified HVAC program; 2.) Be employed by a licensed HVAC Contractor; 3.) Work under the supervision of an HVAC Journeyman; 4.) Be enrolled in or have completed a related training program. Specialty licenses are available in the areas of: Hearth, Fuel Gas Piping, Waste Oil Heating, and LP Limited Heating. Term: Registration is valid for 5 years or for 3 years for specialty apprentices.
