In order to obtain a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in Indiana, the candidate must: Possess a degree of doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy or its equivalent from a board-approved medical school. Have successfully passed the board-administered licensure examination. Be physically, mentally, and professionally competent to practice. Have not been convicted of a crime nor have been subject to disciplinary sanctions that would interfere with the ability to carry out professional duties. Have one (1) year of post-graduate training in a hospital or institution located in the United States or Canada. Submit a transcript of all educational records. Make a personal appearance before the board, at the boards discretion. Candidates who have graduated from a medical school outside the United States may be required to submit additional documentation.
