GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Cuts, styles and arranges hair on the human neck and head, performs shampoos, massages and shaves. Must work under the supervision of a regular licensed barber. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must have four (4) years of high school or a G.E.D. equivalency plus fifteen hundred (1500) hours in an accredited or licensed school of barbering. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Application may be obtained by contacting the Kentucky Board of Barbering. Specific dates for examinations are established by the Board. Usually given once each month. Examination is written multiple choice type and a practical demonstration. Must average 75% for both. Examination fee is $100.00. Should you fail, contact the Kentucky Board of Barbering. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Every applicant must be at least sixteen and one-half (16 1/2) years of age. Must be free of any venereal diseases and tuberculosis. Must be of good moral character and temperate habit. All licenses must be renewed by July 1, with a 31 day grace period permitted. Original license fee is $30.00, with annual renewal fee being $30.00, with a $30.00 penalty charge if renewed after the grace period. May restore a license up to five (5) years by paying back fees, plus penalty fee. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS Reciprocity with other states varies.
