GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Inspects electrical installations to ascertain that they have been installed in compliance with the National Electrical Code. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Applicant shall possess the ability to speak, read and write in the English language and possess a general education level satisfactory to perform his duties. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Contact the regulatory agency for applications and testing information. Certification is based on the National Certification Program for Construction Code Inspectors Tests. Temporary nine (9) month certification is available on request from local officials. Temporary certification test is open book based on NEC standards. Application fee is $25.00. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION There are no age, residency or moral requirements. Applicant must have no less than five (5) years work- experience, in the installation and/or design of all types of residential and commercial wiring systems installed in accordance with NEC standards. Kentucky has no reciprocity agreement with any state. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Certificates will be reissued upon request after reexamination or after a presentation of proof by the electrical inspector that he has successfully completed 12 hours of continuing education courses conducted or approved by the Department prior to expiration. The fee for renewal shall be $25.00, payable to State Treasurer, Commonwealth of Kentucky. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS Temporary examination can be taken three (3) times for certification.
