To receive a Mechanical Inspector License in the State of Michigan, an applicant must have a minimum of three years of experience in hydronic heating and cooling and process piping, HVAC equipment, ductwork, refrigeration, limited heating service, unlimited heating service, limited refrigeration and air conditioning service, unlimited refrigeration and air condition service, and fire suppression. They must also obtain a specialty license if applicable. Upon meeting these requirements, an applicant must also take and pass an examination for each work classification desired. To do so, they must submit of a license application to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, along with the $300.00 license and application fee.
