The Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) is the state agency responsible for licensing ambulance services, certifying emergency medical personnel, and approving emergency medical services training programs. Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) is a trained or certified individual who, upon arriving early to an incident or emergency, assumes immediate responsibility for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence and environment. <p style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><strong>Review:</strong></p> <p style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><a href="https://mn.gov/emsrb/licensing/ems-personnel.jsp"><strong>EMS Personnel</strong></a></p> <p style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><strong><a href="https://emsrblm.mn.gov/lms/public/portal#/login">EMS Personnel Application - Renewal Instructions</a></strong></p> <p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><strong>Entry Requirements</strong>: Successful completion of a U.S. Dept. of Transportation initial course at an Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) approved education program.</p> <p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><strong>Renewal Requirements</strong>: Successful completion of a U.S. Dept. of Transportation refresher course at an EMSRB approved education program.</p> <p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><strong>Lapsed Registration</strong>: Within twelve months after the expiration date, a registration may be renewed by successful completion of a U.S. Dept. of Transportation refresher course at an EMSRB approved education program. If not renewed within twelve months after the expiration date, the U.S. Dept. of Transportation initial course must be successfully completed at an EMSRB approved education program before registration can be renewed.</p> <p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><strong>Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) National Registration</strong> <em><strong>(optional)</strong>:</em> The written test is based on the U.S. Dept. of Transportation 1995 First Responder: National Standard Curriculum. To take the National Registry written test, you must successfully complete a U.S. Dept. of Transportation 1995 First Responder: National Standard Curriculum course successfully pass the practical skills examination within the past two years.
