Notify or Notified. Notice by the Board shall be effective when mailed by regular first class mail, postage prepaid, to the address listed by the applicant on his application. Applicants shall notify the Board in writing of any change of mailing address occurring after their applications are filed. K. Rules. The Rules Governing Admission to the Mississippi Bar as adopted by the Board and approved by the Chief Justice of the Court. L. Secretary. Secretary of the Board of Bar Admissions. "Certificate of Eligibility is required for admission to the Mississippi Bar and Courts. State law requires membership in The Mississippi Bar in order to practice law in Mississippi (73-3-119). Applicants who have successfully passed the bar examination, which is administered by the Board of Bar Admissions, must be sworn in to a Chancery Court. Once sworn in to a Chancery Court, applicants must register with The Mississippi Bar and pay annual enrollment fees. Every person who intends to apply for admission to the MS Bar through the general bar examination must file with the Board an Application for Registration as a Law Student, on or before October 1st, after successful completion of 2 semesters of law school. An examination application must be filed in addition to the law student application. Please see the Rules Governing Admission to the Mississippi Bar for the filing deadlines for each Bar Examination. General Certificate Requirements: Qualifications for Examination Applicants are a minimum of 21 years of age, Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university or credit for the requirements for the first 3 years of college work from a college or university offering an integrated 6 year prelaw and law course and has completed the law course at a college or university offering such an integrated six year course, has successfully completed or at the time of taking the bar examination will be within 60 days of completion of a general course of study of law in a law school which is provisionally or fully approved by the section of Legal Education and Admission to the Bar of the American Bar Association. Once an applicant passes Character and Fitness review, passes the Bar Exam and has met the requirements of the Rules Governing Admission to the Mississippi Bar, the Board of Bar Admissions will certify they are eligible for admission and will issue a Certificate of Eligibility which is required in order to be admitted to the Court(s) and the MS Bar.
