<h3>Occupational Description</h3><br>Practice of Law in Nebraska. Attorneys counsel people regarding legal rights and obligations and suggest particular courses of action in business or personal matters. Attorneys may also represent one of the opposing parties in criminal and civil trials by presenting arguments that support the client in a court of law.<br><h3>Licensure Requirements</h3><br>See Nebraska Supreme Court Rule § 3-101 and 3-803<br><h3>Fees</h3><br>Fees required for admission to the bar vary based on application type. After admission to the bar, attorneys pay a mandatory membership assessment annually for each calendar year. Attorneys face suspension of the license for non-payment of the mandatory membership assessment.<br><h3>Renewal</h3><br>Each member of the bar shall pay a mandatory membership assessment for each calendar year from January 1 to December 31 following, payable in advance on or before January 20 of each year, in such amounts as may be fixed by the Supreme Court pursuant to Neb. Ct. R. §§ 3-100(B), 3-301(E), and 3-1010(B) using the Court’s website (https://mcle.wcc.ne.gov/ext/) for the purpose of license renewal. Active attorneys are subject to annual continuing legal education (CLE) requirements in accordance with Neb. Ct. R. § 3-401.
