<h3>Occupational Description</h3><br>Tattoo Artists mark or color the skin by insertion of nontoxic dyes or pigments into or under the subcutaneous portion of the skin upon the body of a live human being so as to form indelible marks for decorative or figurative purposes.<br><h3>Licensure Requirements</h3><br>Applicants must: 1. Be at least eighteen years of age; 2. Have a high school diploma or equivalent; 3. Have completed at least four hours of training within three years immediately prior to making application for a license as a body artist. Such training must include at least two hours of bloodborne pathogens (disease) training, which includes sanitation, infection control, and sterilization. An examination is required as a condition of training completion. 4. Pass an examination, which must include questions relating to the following: A. Sanitation; B. Safety (including emergency procedures); C. Infection control, including cross-contamination & barrier control; D. Sterilization, including use of an autoclave; 5. Complete a basic first aid class which teaches participants how to: A. Recognize emergency situations; B. Check the scene and call for help; C. Avoid bloodborne pathogen exposure; D. Care for wounds; E. Manage sudden illnesses; F. Minimize shock. 6. Possess good character; 7. Be either a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted into the United States who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act, or a nonimmigrant who is lawfully present in the United States and who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act.<br><h3>Fees</h3><br>License Fee- $95.00<br><h3>Renewal</h3><br>Renewal is required biennially by March 31 of each odd-numbered year. The renewal fee is $118.00. Renewal requires completion of at least two hours of additional bloodborne pathogens (disease) training, which must include sanitation, infection control, and sterilization, and must require an examination as a condition of training completion.
