License: Emergency Medical Technician - Clark County

EMTs who want to work in Clark County must be certified through the Southern Nevada Health District. EMTs outside of Clark County must be certified through the State of Nevada. (State of Nevada requirements are listed separately.) Applicants for EMT certification must: 1) Be at least 18 years of age. 2) Have a current, valid driver's license. 3) Have successfully completed a state-approved EMT course that meets the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) national EMT certification standards. 4) Have current EMT certification from the National Registry of EMT's (NREMT). 5) Have a current, valid healthcare provider level CPR card as approved by SNHD. Applicants for Advanced EMT (AEMT) must: 1) Meet the EMT requirements (above). 2) Have successfully completed a state-approved AEMT course that meets the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) national AEMT certification standards. 3) Have current AEMT certification from the National Registry of EMT's (NREMT). Applicants for Paramedic must: 1) Meet the EMT requirements (above). 2) Have successfully completed a state-approved Paramedic course that meets the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) national Paramedic certification standards. 3) Have current Paramedic certification from the National Registry of EMT's (NREMT). 4) Have a current, valid course in Advanced Cardiac Life Support procedures. Notes: EMT, AEMT and Paramedic applicants must not currently be under investigation or have had any healthcare-related certification, license, medical direction/control, or clinical privileges limited, suspended or revoked. Applicants for licensure to work for a permitted ambulance agency will be fingerprinted for an FBI background report. Fees may be subject to change.
