<p>An Insurance Producer is a person who is required to be licensed under the laws of this state in the capacity of agent, broker, or consultant who sells, solicits or negotiates insurance.</p> <p><strong>Legislation:</strong> NH RSA 402-J; Administrative Rules Chapter Ins 1300</p> <p><strong>Licensure Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years of age</li> <li>Must be a resident of this state or another state that grants similar licenses to residents of this state</li> </ul> <p><strong>Examination:</strong> Written examination required. Examinations are administered for the Insurance Department by Prometric. A separate examination fee is payable to Prometric. Exams may not be scheduled until the registration process is complete. Registration is electronic and links are available on the Department's web site.</p> <p><strong>Continuing Education:</strong> Continuing education of 24 credits, including at least three but not more than ten credits in ethics, are required for renewal. Continuing education credits must be completed at least 60 days prior to the license expiration date.</p> <p><strong>Fees:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Original license: $210</li> <li>Biennial renewal: $150</li> <li>Amendment to license: $50</li> <li>NH laws and regulations exam: $50</li> <li>Life or accident/health exam: $50</li> <li>Life, accident, and health exam: $65</li> <li>Property and casualty exam: $65</li> <li>Title insurance exam: $50</li> <li>Credit exam: $50</li> </ul> <p><strong>Reciprocity:</strong> Non-residents permitted, with evidence of being licensed and evidence of having completed educational requirements</p> <p>revised Feb 2016</p>
