License: Pharmacy Technician

<p>Pharmacy Technicians assist in performing, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, manipulative, nondiscretionary functions associated with the practice of pharmacy. They are limited to performing tasks in the preparation of legend drugs and devices and to provide nonjudgmental technical support services. All tasks and functions undertaken by the pharmacy technician must be verified and confirmed for correctness, exactness, accuracy, and completeness by the pharmacist-in-charge.</p> <p><strong>Legislation:</strong> NH RSA 318:5-a; Administrative Rules Chapter Ph 800</p> <p><strong>Registration Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Possess good moral character</li> <li>Be at least 16 years of age and either have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be working to achieve a high school or equivalent diploma</li> <li>Complete and file application</li> <li>Complete 80 hours of on-the-job training and be registered with the Board within 15 days</li> <li>Have not been convicted of a drug-related felony</li> <li>All pharmacy technicians must wear a tag identifying them as a Pharmacy Technician while on duty</li> <li>The pharmacist-in-charge shall determine the duties of the pharmacy technician, and shall verify and confirm acts, tasks, and functions undertaken by the pharmacy technician</li> <li>To become a "Certified Pharmacy Technician," additional requirements must be met, including passing a nationally recognized certification examination recognized by the New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy</li> </ul> <p><strong>Examination:</strong> Not required, however, a nationally recognized examination must be passed to achieve Certified Pharmacy Technician status</p> <p><strong>Continuing Education:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Not required, however, Certified Pharmacy Techicians must complete Board-approved continuing education.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Fees</strong>:</p> <ul> <li>Initial registration: $50</li> <li>Annual renewal: $50</li> </ul> <ul>All registrations expire annually on March 31</ul> <p><strong>Reciprocity:</strong> Not permitted</p> <p>revised Jan 2018</p>
