JOB DESCRIPTION: A physical therapy assistant is a skilled practitioner who administers physical therapy under the direction of a qualified physical therapist to patients in treatment programs. The assistant helps patients with exercise therapy and applies massage and/or electrical or ultraviolet ray treatment to a patient’s afflicted area. The assistant may also monitor and report the patient’s progress to the therapist or physician. Physical therapy assistants work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and home-health agencies.
