EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER (EMR)<br><br>An emergency medical responder participates in an organized program of mobile pre-hospital emergency medical care to the sick and injured individuals before a licensed Basic or Advance Life Support unit arrives. Professional may provide additional procedures with devices and supplies consigned under medical direction if trained in an appropriate program authorized by the Office of Emergency Medical Services. <br><br>REQUIREMENTS:<br> Certification by a certified instructor of an approved course of instruction for emergency providers that applicant is 18 years of age; is able to read, write and speak the English language; is currently certified in Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; and has attended all classes in training with one allowable absence, has completed practical skills evaluation, and has performed satisfactorily on all in-class examinations. In addition the applicant must satisfy the examination requirement. <br><br>EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: <br>A score of 70% on a written examination through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). <br><br>RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS: <br>Successful completion of a refresher training course of at least 16 hours meeting the refresher course curriculum approved by the EMS Board OR Satisfactory completion (70% score) of the written examination for EMR's through NREMT.
