PUBLIC WEIGHTMASTER<br><br>Accurately weigh livestock, tobacco, milk, cream, cotton, and agricultural grains or seeds which are purchased, processed, or sold on a bulk weight basis.<br><br>PROSPECTIVE:<br>Every stockyard, slaughterhouse, tobacco warehouse/ loose floor, dairy products plant, cotton gin/ compress, and agricultural grain or seed buying/receiving station which buys or sells commodities on a bulk basis shall have in its employ one or more public weighmasters. Any individual acting on behalf of such individual or an establishment that charges a fee, commission, or any type of payment to perform public weighing shall also be licensed.<br><br>REQUIREMENTS:<br>Must be able to use measurement practices and equipment in accordance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Handbook 44 and generally accepted practices; must be able to prepare correct certificates; a citizen of the United States and at least eighteen (18) years of age. Certification authority is authorized to administer a written examination of applicant's knowledge.<br><br>RENEWAL:<br>Required every two (2) years.
