BOILER INSPECTOR <br><br>A boiler inspector is commissioned by the state to inspect power boilers, low pressure heating boilers, and unfired pressure vessels as to construction, installation, condition and function before regular operation and periodically before certificates expire, and to certify the satisfactory inspection and the maximum pressure under which the boiler may be operated. <br>[The inspector is a state employee, an employee of an insurer of boilers in the state, or an employee of a company with an approved inspection program for boilers it owns or uses.] <br><br>PROSPECTIVE: <br>A certificate of competency is required for appointment as chief inspector, assistant chief, deputy inspector, or special inspector in Tennessee. <br><br>REQUIREMENTS:<br> A commission or user-owner commission (as applicable) issued by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. Education and experience requirements below must be met to sit for the examination. <br><br>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: <br>A degree from an accredited school in mechanical engineering, plus one year of experience in design, construction, operation or inspection of high-pressure boilers and pressure vessels <BR><br>OR<br> An associate degree from an accredited school in mechanical technology, plus two years of experience in design, construction, operation or inspection of high-pressure boilers and pressure vessels <BR><br>OR<br> A high school education (or the equivalent) plus three years experience in high pressure boiler and pressure vessel construction or repair, as an operating engineer in charge of high-pressure boiler operation, or as an inspector of high-pressure boilers and pressure boiler operation. <br><br>EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: <br>Satisfactory prough the certifying authority.
