“Process” means the document (usually a citation) used to inform a defendant that court proceedings have been started against him or her and to compel his or her appearance. Process servers serve citations, notices, writs, orders and other papers issued by the courts. They can also serve subpoenas. Certified process servers will serve process primarily in civil cases in accordance with Texas statutes and rules.
