Description of Occupation: A Clinical Psychologist is a sub-specialty in psychology which is primarily concerned with assessing and alleviating emotional, mental, and behavioral disorders in a hospital, institution, or other clinical setting.Requirements for Licensing: "Clinical Psychologist" means a person who has received training in clinical psychology from an accredited school in the US and has completed the internship requirements. Training means doctoral level training in clinical psychology at an accredited institution of higher learning in the US. Accredited means that the college or the university has met the standards as established either by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, or by the New England Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, or by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges, or by other accrediting agencies using similar standards. Internship means a training program of one year that is supervised by a doctoral level clinical psychologist or approved by the American Psychological Association, and can be demonstrated to be of high quality.Examinations: Endorsement.
